Maybelline Sun Glow Bronzing Powder (discontinued but similar here)
I recently bought this Pixi Mesmerising Mineral Palette in Plum Quartz from Asos. I’d been eying it up for quite a while and eventually decided to go for it so I could play around with some different eyeshadow combinations to my regular Naked Palette staples. These ones are all shimmer shades and to be honest aren’t massively different from the Naked offerings, but there are some beautiful rose toned shadows in the mix. My faves are the second, fourth and fifth ones from the left (pictured above). They are really buildable, I often do just a sheer wash of colour for the day time, but if I want something more opaque and smokey for the evening then I just spend a few more seconds working the shadow onto my lid. At £12, the shadows work out at a mere £2 each, and because of that I really wasn’t expecting the formula to be as great as it is. Total bargain and I think a good alternative if you can’t afford the Naked Palettes. In this look I am wearing the light cream shade all over the lid and brow bone, then a wash of the light rosey pink over the lid with a little of the 5th shade from the left to line my top lashes. The Benefit primer I’m currently using under eyeshadow and concealer is the best. It does such a great job of holding my makeup in place and evens out the skin tone on my eyelids too. I actually prefer it to the Urban Decay Primer Potion!
I also picked up one of The Body Shop’s Colour Crush Lipsticks in Peachy Pink, which is the most gorgeous my-lips-but-better shade. It’s quite similar to the colour of L’oreal’s Collection Priveé Lipstick in Julianne but it is much more hydrating on the lips, making it more suitable for warmer weather in my opinion. It has a little bit of shimmer in it, but not too much. It’s just a really creamy, glossy formula. The staying power isn’t fantastic, but as the colour is a peachy nude it doesn’t matter too much. I would be hesitant to buy some of the brighter shades, though, because I’d be worried they’d slip and fade quickly.
The rest of the products are what I’m wearing every day at the moment. I’m loving my recent purchase of the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation for full coverage with a lovely dewy glow and my Max Factor Clump Defy mascara is great for a natural every-day flutter. I also want to mention the Revlon Cream Blush in Pinched – I’m obsessed! It’s such a natural peach shade for my pale skin and the cream finish is perfect for a light makeup look. I don’t like layering too many powders on my face, especially in this heat. It has great staying power too, despite being a cream!
What do you think of this look? Have you tried any of the products I used here?
