My skin has been feeling really bleugh lately. I can’t think of a better word to describe it… you know what I mean though right? I think it’s this cold winter weather. It is sooo dry, I’m having to moisturise my face about three times a day. To try and fend off the dryness, I really felt like I needed to give my face a total deep cleanse. I know that moisturising is good for the skin, but sometimes I just feel like putting stuff on my face constantly, and then applying makeup on top really clogs my face up and stops it from breathing. Ok… a lot of weird metaphors going on in this post, but hopefully you get my drift.
My first stop to try and sort out this problem was The Body Shop. This is a store I was never massively into, but I have loads of friends who love it. I’ve heard rave reviews of their skin products but hadn’t actually tried any myself, and decided it was about time. I wanted an exfoliating scrub that would cleanse out all the nasties but also moisturise my face, not leaving it dry and itchy afterwards. The description of this Honey and Oat 3-in-1 Scrub Mask totally fitted the bill: ‘cleanse, polish and moisturise in one’ (The Body Shop’s words). YES. I grabbed the tester, opened it up to have a sniff, that just clenched the deal. Over to the counter to part with my dollah.
It smells so good. It’s hard to describe. The honey and oat definitely comes through so that you kind of want to lick it off your face, but somehow it still smells clean and refreshing. The texture is great for exfoliating. I apply it after I’ve showered or bathed and leave it on for about 10 minutes. At first I used it a few times a week to kind of kick-start it’s magic, but now I just use it whenever my skin is feeling a bit clogged up. It definitely rids my face of any nasty things lurking there. I recommend applying this at night, because it takes a while for the hydration to kick in. Generally, my skin will feel scrubbed and polished after applying for a few hours, but not particularly moisturised. However, when I wake up the next morning, it’s really hydrated! So it takes a while for all the elements to work, but it’s definitely worth the wait. Next on my skin care list is some of the Vitamin E moisturising products, and if they’re as good as this product, I don’t think I’ll be shopping elwhere for skincare for a while.
