100 Happy Days #5

I’m documenting my 100 Happy Days challenge! Read the previous posts here. Here’s the latest pics.

I have been practising my egg poaching skills over the last couple of weeks and I think I’m getting pretty darn good at it, even if I do say so myself. I was always scared to venture out of the safe realms of scrambled or fried, but eggs benedict is my favourite breakfast, and I thought, it can’t be that tricky. Needless to say, it definitely wasn’t as hard as I was imagining! This was a brunch I cooked last Thursday, and the eggs turned out deliciously! I haven’t been able to make eggs benedict yet because making hollandaise sauce seems like such a faff. But give me a few weeks – I won’t be able to resist now that I can successfully poach eggs.

I had a bit of a treat at the weekend! I stayed in the most gorgeous hotel in Northumberland called Matfen Hall HotelIt’s an old manor hotel complete with golf course and spa. Beautiful grounds and very luxurious!

View of the hotel from the grounds. We spent 2 nights there and it was so relaxing and idyllic!

I made chilli on Sunday night. I love chilli in the winter, it’s so comforting and tastes delicious. I’m going to post a recipe of how I made it here on the blog in a few days, so keep your eyes peeled!

I received the DVD of Broadchurch for Christmas and decided to start it this week. It was so addictive I watched the whole series in four days! I’m not usually into murder mysteries but this is so cleverly written, and stars David Tenant. Win win situation!

You may remember I posted a few weeks back about my friend visiting America over the holidays and bringing me back some amazing White Fudge Oreos. Well, she also brought me these S’mores flavoured Goldfish! I cracked them open the other day and let me tell you, they are dee-licious. My only problem is that once I started eating them I couldn’t stop and ate at least half the pack! Oops…

I went out to the Student Union last night. Most UK students will be aware that Wednesday night is Sports Social night, and although I’m not part of an athletic team (I’m scoffing just thinking about the possibility – I have zero hand-eye co-ordination skills). This was a snap I took of the group at good ol’ pre-drinks. Love these guys!
