I recently shared my morning skincare routine with you all, which you can read here. I thought while I was about it I’d also do a little post about my evening routine! As I explained in the morning post, I’m not a hardcore skincare fanatic, but I’ve been trying to get into the habit of applying specific products that really make a difference to my skin. I’ve been seeing some results already, and I probably only got into the rhythm of things around April, so I’m definitely going to be sticking to these for a while!
First of all I take the bulk of my makeup off with Garnier’s Micellar Water, which is supposed to be a dupe for the famous Bioderma. I’ve never used the latter, so I can’t compare, but I absolutely love Garnier’s version. It gets pretty much all of my makeup off, usually on one cotton pad! It’s doesn’t irritate my skin at all, and the water-like consistency is refreshing. Next I go in with a cleanser. The one I’ve been using a lot is this Gentle Cleansing Melt from Evolve. Its vanilla scent is lovely and it’s very soothing. It’s also designed for normal/dry skin which is perfect for me. However, I recently bought The Body Shop’s Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil, which I featured in my latest haul video, and I have to say I prefer that over Evolve’s offering. I thought I would hate putting an oil on my skin to remove makeup, but it’s actually so light and hydrating, I’m really surprised! When I photographed this, though, I hadn’t tried the cleansing oil.
After cleansing, I apply the same Soap and Glory serum I apply in the morning because my skin really seems to love it. It sinks in quickly and it’s not too sticky. Afterwards I put a little of The Body Shop’s Elderflower Unperfumed Eye Gel underneath and on my eyelids. This helps to combat any puffiness or dryness I might be suffering with my eyes. They’re a bit of a problem spot at the moment, so I make sure I never miss this out! Finally, I slather on my Vitamin E Night Cream from Boots. This is such great value for money. It’s only £3.05 and it does the job perfectly. It’s thick and creamy, and after putting it on you can really feel like it’s making a difference to your skin straight away. It sinks in after a while and leaves my skin feeling beautifully soft and moisturised! I then apply some lip balm, and I’m ready to catch some z’s. It sounds like a lot when typing it all out, but actually it probably doesn’t take me more than five minutes to do from start to finish, and my skin has definitely been thanking me for it!
What’s your favourite product to use in the evening? Do you make sure you apply skincare every night or are you a bit more lax with it?
