FOTD: Winged Liner and a Nude Lip for Autumn

I’ve been switching up my makeup routine a little in the past month or so. I’m still very attached to my peachy pink lip, don’t get me wrong, but as the weather’s gone from mild and sort of (read: occasionally) warm to downright chilly (read: freezing), I’ve been reaching for a more brown-toned neutral lip to match the leaves scattered on the ground! Scroll down for reviews of the products as well as some pictures of them in use…

A couple of months ago I decided to invest in Chanel’s Vitalumiere Aqua foundation in the shade 10 Beige after reading countless rave reviews of it. I have to admit, I’m not blown away by the super light texture. Sure, it blends seamlessly and gives a skin-like finish while giving me a healthy glow, but I can’t help thinking that there are plenty of drugstore tinted moisturisers that would do a similar thing. Although the weightless formula means you feel like you’re not wearing anything on your face but still offers enough coverage for good-skin-days, the staying power isn’t great and most of the product has disappeared off my face after a few hours. However, I do still like the finish and when used with Seventeen’s Phwoar Paint in Fair and a touch of Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory and set with some Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 001, I do think it gives me a pretty flawless base, even if it doesn’t last all day.

I am pretty much religiously using my Soap and Glory Wonderbronze in Sundaze with a flush of Bourjois Blush in Rose Frisson. The former does a fantastic job of giving me a healthy, sun-kissed glow while the latter evens thinks out while giving me a natural peachy flush. See these two featured in my October Favourites video here.

On my eyes, I’ve been keeping it pretty neutral but enjoy doing a feline flick with my L’Oreal Superliner in Black Laquer Waterproof. The formula of this really is waterproof – it doesn’t budge and is a bit of an effort to remove but I would far prefer that over a smudgy black mess under my eyes. I used my Pixi Mesmerizing Mineral Palette in Plum Quartz (the far left shade all over the lid with a bit of the fourth from left through the crease) and tight-lined with some Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner in Bronze as well as in the outer third of the water line. I coated my lashes in L’Oreal’s Volume Million Lashes Excess in Waterproof Black, which is not the best mascara I’ve used. It definitely has a tendency to clump, but I’m trying to use it up! To finish, I ran my Soap and Glory Archery Pencil in Blondeshell through my brows for some soft definition (also featured in my October Favourites)!

Finally: the nude lip. I filled in my lips with the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Lip Liner in Always Toasted to create a base that’s just a touch warmer than my actual lips. Although the colour of this is divine, the formula is pretty matte and feels quite drying, so I always like to put something on top, whether a lipstick or gloss. This time I opted for Maybelline’s ColorSensational Shine Gloss in Coffee Kiss.

And that’s it, folks! What’s your favourite makeup look for Autumn/Winter? Next on my wish list is a deep berry matte lip!

Hi Angeliki, sorry for the late reply! I have been using the rimmel concealer for a while now and I really like it. It’s very hydrating which is good for me because my skin can get very dry under my eyes. It blends well and is light enough to make my skin look brighter. Hope that helps! x
