Review: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush

I recently treated myself to a post-birthday purchase. I’d heard a lot about the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder, and when they released the blushes in the same range earlier this year, I thought they were the possibly most beautiful looking makeup product I’d ever seen! A highlighter and blush in one, they have a lovely marbleised finish and the packaging is incredibly sleek and luxurious too with a great mirror in it for on the go. I found myself wandering into Space NK and eyeing them up, and ended up taking the shade Dim Infusion home with me. They’re not cheap, but I’m glad I splurged on it for the following reasons…

The product itself is designed to look as natural as possible on your skin, in any situation. Because of this I thought they would apply quite sheer, but I was surprised at just how pigmented they are while still looking natural. It doesn’t take much product to get a decent wash of colour on your cheeks, but at the same time I’ve tried packing it on and I just can’t get it to look overpowering, which in my eyes is the sign of a blush that is very good at its job. There are so many blushes that when applied make me look like a clown with my pale complexion, but this never happens when wearing this blush! Each one is hand baked so they look slightly different, and you can choose to swirl your brush more into the highlight, more into the blush or a mixture of both. Dim infusion is a lovely peachy shade that suits my complexion, but they have a range of different shades from bright pinks to more deep and coral hues.

If I’m having a day where I want something to apply quickly and know that it will give me the natural flush I want every single time, whether I dip my brush in once or five times, then I reach for this. Next on my list is the powder! Have you tried any Hourglass products? What did you think?
