Ok, I know I’m very behind on this craze, but I just got my first Urban Decay Naked Palette. It was tough deciding which one to buy first, but I thought I would start in chronological order and work my way towards getting 2 and 3 later on. When I opened up the palette for the first time I think it’s fair to say I was a little overexcited. I have been wanting to get my hands on one of these for about a year, but it was always the price that put me off. As a student, I can’t really justify spending £37 on a beauty product just willy nilly, it’s got to be something that will blow my socks off. But after a year of lusting after it, I decided it was time to bite the bullet… so I asked for it for Christmas. (Sneaky, eh? That way I still didn’t have to spend money!) I guess I was just worried that I would buy the palette and be disappointed when it arrived, so I didn’t want to take any chances.
But I am thrilled with it. I love the packaging, and the eyeshadows? Oh my. There are so many versatile shades. I can see that I’ll be using it for all occasions. I’ve already worn it almost every day since Christmas! Some of my favourite shades so far are Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar, Half Baked and Toasted. There are a lot of shimmery colours, which I love, but there are also a few matte shades which are ideal for a toned down look. They are really pigmented, and tend to last the whole day, although I would definitely recommend touching up if you plan to go out in the evening.
I’ve mainly been using the lighter shades because I haven’t really had an excuse for a smokey eye while I’ve been home for Christmas. It’s been a lot of essay writing and not very much partying, unfortunately! But I think when I get back to uni I will definitely be experimenting with some of the darker shades. I may even put some photos/tutorials up of my experiments!
So, all in all, in my book this palette is well worth the £37. With 12 different colours, it works out at around £3 per eyeshadow – bargain! I have already put the other 2 palettes on my wish list. I particularly love the rosey shades in the third one, I think they’re really pretty and make a change from my usual go-to neutral look.
